Diagnostic Reference Levels
Cho Pyong-Kon

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to find out the meaning of the diagnosis reference level based on the data already published.

Materials and Method: Diagnostic reference levels were first mentioned by the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) in 1990. It was then recommended in more detail in 1996 and has been revised several times so far. These levels, which are a form of investigation level, apply to an easily measured quantity, usually the absorbed dose in air, or in a tissue equivalent material at the surface of a simple standard phantom or representative patient.

Conclusions: The diagnostic reference level will be intended for use as a simple test for identifying situations where the level of patient dose or administered activity is unusually high.
